Insidious and Astral Projection

Insdious
I watched the movie Insidious, a couple years ago on and I enjoyed it.  I love scary movies and this one was one that didn’t quite meet Nightmare on Elm street standards but the storyline was interesting.

Here’s a brief synopsis taken from Wikipedia(1):

“Insidious is a 2011 independent American[4] psychological horror film. Written by Leigh Whannell and directed by James Wan, the film features Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Barbara Hershey in starring roles. The story centers on a couple whose son inexplicably enters a comatose state and becomes a vessel for ghosts in an astral dimension.”

Me being who I am, I wondered if this could happen outside of the film.  Can one be trapped in another dimension where demons await to take over your body? So I looked and researched.

My research entries were about astral projection.  What is it? How does it work?  Is it real?  Can demons take over your body? Why try Astral Projection?

What is Astro Projection?

From my understanding, it is when you send a part of your consciousness out without your physical body.  I’m guessing it’s like meditation but on higher frequency of awareness.  It is called an Out of Body Experience, “where the soul is free to roam the universe during a state of low brain activity, during sleep or a trance-like state.” (2)

How does it work?

There are two techniques that most learn how to practice and its The Monroe Technique or the Silva Method.

Each with its own steps that if you click on the links will show you how.

Basically, like in meditation, you are supposed to bring yourself into a state of relaxation, a still state, where you think of nothing but your breathing and focusing on feeling yourself separating from your physical body.

Is it real? Can Demons take over your body?

Now this is the big question and I went looking for people who have experienced this Out of Body Experience. So I looked and looked until I found this website by Erin Pavlina.  Erin Pavlina is an intuitive counselor that gives you information on having a better, spiritual life by connecting with your spiritual guides.

She has this article called Astral Projection: My First Experience which gives a chilling recount of her first astral projection experience.

She also has an article on The Dangers of Astral Projection.  Which was a little Q&A that answered some questions I had like Can a demon possess you? She says:

“I don’t think it’s that easy, if it’s even possible.  A demon can only possess you if you let it, if you intend for it, if you’re vibrating so low that you easily vacate your body just for some relief from your life.  Like a vampire, you have to invite it in.  Still, there are entities who can suck your life force and drain you pretty good, so you want to avoid them as much as possible, unless you’re Buffy the Astral Demon Slayer.  Again, make with the white light.  It’s your friend.”

This article was very helpful and helped answer my last question:

Why Astral Project?

In the article titled: Astral Projection: The Basics Explained she gives you a list of things that you can do while you are astral projecting.

Some of them include:

  • Helped lost souls find their way to the after-life
  • Visited with friends who were also astral
  • Flown around the planet for fun
  • Engaged in, um, relations with other beings
  • Had interesting conversations with my spirit guides

Some of these sound cool (even though my eyebrow scrunched on the second to last one) if you are willing to take that step forward and embrace a world that plays by its own rules.  Me personally, I am not ready.  Though if you would like to try, I say learn a whole lot before trying.  Researching is you friend.  Don’t take it lightly, this is not a game.

After sort of confirming that this could happen I could not sleep.  So yeah, maybe researching wasn’t the right move. I recently heard about Insidious Chapter Two and I have watched the trailer and it looks a thousand times better and scarier.  Yes, I will be there to watch in theaters ready to jump, scream, and stay up all night.  What are horror movies for anyway?

      1. You’re welcome… btw, Insidious chap 3 was “ehhh”…. you can pretty much tell that it was a new director, totally different style than the first two

      2. Oh don’t even get me started on that. I was so pissed like just no…wrong all the way around. I literally laughed at some parts that was not meant to be funny.

      3. Lmao… I think there was one scary part (kinda)… but I was pissed too… I still have to buy it when it comes out, regrettably – I have the first two.. so, ya know… gotta complete the trilogy lol

      4. Conjuring 2 is coming though… same director – so there’s that to look forward to

      5. Hahaha never! Although I don’t remember all that happened since its been awhile since I’ve watched it but I would remember if it was bad.
